The brief

Fernhill grows about 1,400 plant varieties under glass. Stock changed daily and lived in a spreadsheet, so customers phoned to ask what was available, and two staff spent most mornings answering.

What we built

The stock spreadsheet became a small database the growers update from a tablet in the greenhouse. The site reads it every ten minutes, so a sold-out plant disappears from the shop before anyone can order it.

Customers choose a collection slot when they pay. Slots follow the rota, so the shop never offers a time when nobody is at the till.

After launch

Phone calls fell within a month. The growers now ask for features themselves; the latest is a “back in stock” email for plants that sell out every spring.
